Brown doesn’t mean Wholemeal!
“Wholemeal” is a term used in the UK
“Wholegrain” and “whole-wheat” are terms used in the
US
So you might be thinking that you are one of the good
guys munching on your ‘brown bread’ – well don’t be tricked…just because it
says ‘brown bread’ doesn’t necessarily mean it is any different to white bread
or much better!
If you see enriched/wheat flour then forget it – this
is exactly the same things they put into white bread so you won’t be getting
the benefits of the wholemeal goodness! Processed = stripped of natural
goodness ...
As
a basic rule of thumb the few ingredients the better so keep
that in mind the next time you’re out shopping for bread.
Brown
does not mean bread is made from whole wheat. Brown bread is often a mixture of
white flour and whole-wheat flour with added ingredients for colour, such as
caramel.
So
bewarrrreeee of the overly used terminology "brown" > read the
labels !!!! Or make your own at home :)
